Follow us on Twitter

As you might know, twitter is a very effective way to communicate with a large group of folks interested in what you are doing on a given time.  Now, this applies to Jennifer Anniston tweeting about what she is having for lunch today and letting all her fans know about it, but it can also be used by our Diablos coaches to lets us know about practices, games, rain outs, etc.  This is how it can work for us:
    •    Signup for a twitter account.  Go to:  http://twitter.com/  and sign up. It's free and there is very little personal data needed to open your account.
    •    When you have signed up with twitter, look up: "14uDiabloMaroon".  Once you find it, click "follow".
    •   That is it!  As long as you have the twitter app going in your cell phone or log in to the twitter website, you will receive any messages associated w ith the 14 YO DiabloMaroon team.
Now, you may say to yourself, …”this is too complicated and I don’t want to deal with twitter and the app etc. , can I get the tweets in the form of a text to my cell phone?  And the answer is a resounding yes.

Here is how to do it:
    1. Go to your twitter account, go to your profile
    2. Click “edit profile”
    3. Click “Mobile”
    4. Enter your cell number, twitter will ask you to send a text from your phone to Twitter to verify your phone and with the text “go” as your text message
    5. Twitter will verify your message as received
    6. In the same page, under “Message notifications”,  please make sure you check the box
Tweets from people you've enabled for mobile notifications
    7.      Click save your settings

    8.      Go to your home page and click people you follow or click under the 14uDiabloMaroon name and you will get something like this.

If you notice, under the right hand side above next to “following”, there is a cell phone symbol.  When you click the cell phone symbol, all tweets from this particular user, will be forwarded to the cell phone that you have authorized in the steps above. (you will see a message telling you so)
    .

That is it.  One warning.  Standard text messaging from your cell carrier will apply here.  If you have unlimited text or family test messaging, then you are fine. If you don’t, just be aware that this may add a few pennies to your cell bill per month.
